Joe Liu 27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB First, I was instructed to reset the PRAM....that worked for about 4 hrs. Next, I re-installed the OS from the disc (did not delete data)....problem has been gone for 2 days now. I'm hopeful that it actually was a software issue. I only saw the issue on... Read More

Bill P. 27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB My i7 replacement (second i7) is now 11 days old. No problems until today. No flickering thus far, but I did get the vertical lines shifting/tearing the menu bar down about 5 or 6 inches and putting the dock at the top. Had to reboot to fix it. Looks like... Read More
Shaun Priest 21.5" 3.06 Core2Duo 500GB Basically before I put my iMac to sleep at night, I put the brightness down to 1 notch, so when I wake up in the morning and check my email the brightness doesn't damage my eyes! I done this the first night I got the iMac and the next morning, when I woke... Read More
coxorange 21.5" 3.06 Core2Duo 500GB I also bought two new iMacs 21.5" with ATI Radeon HD 4670 (in the UK). (I post this here because the other thread is for the 27".) One had that flickering problem - the other one was OK. The defective one also made a humming noise (top, right side) and a... Read More
27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB Random screen flickers - horizontally. As yet no satisfaction from Apple.

nikos@mac.com 27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB Problems with flickering and screen going black started on day 2. Logged with Apple support. I can make the problem go away by putting iMac to sleep and waking it up immediately, therefore not related to heat. Airport always off (connecting via... Read More

27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB Flicker noticed 12 days after purchase. Happened 3 times.
angelswings 27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB Had my i5 (wk 47) for 11 days and just started to get some flickering today. Flickers about once a minute and screen blackout about twice an hour. Just rebooted and so far ok. Strangely, I'm feeling sort of relieved. Not knowing whether I had a good one... Read More
27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB Flickering screen with blackouts like others. Occurred after several days. Ceases after restart. Then returns a while later.
jfaughnan 27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB I bought my 27" i5 today and so far it's had two episodes of severe flickering and one episode of stuttering. It's been displaying a slide show as a convenient way to test. When I move my mouse it's fine thereafter.
Jemamo 27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB I've just replaced my 2 week old i5 iMac due to problems with flickering and blacking out (as described in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2212682&tstart=0), which was also a 46week batch.
Nic P 27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB I have had my iMac 27" i5 for a week. I checked the serial number and found that it is a week 46 model. The flickering and blacking out problem started on day two of using the machine. I called Apple and set up a case id. They told me to go to an Apple... Read More
madebysteve 27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB seems ok after restart. Flickering is fairly random, some days no flickering
Jr Beck 27" 3.06 Core2Duo 1TB We bought our iMac 27-inch around 6 weeks ago and the flickering & blackouts began around 2 weeks after purchase. Have informed Apple support - they had not heard of this issue at the time so had me do reboots and run the hardware tests etc. None of these... Read More
ArMyZ 27" 3.33 Core2Duo 1TB I'm experiencing random flickering issues too. Totally random. I installed OS from scratch, no restore or import tools at all. Obviously I'm just out of the 14 days, of course (but I bought apple care plan too). When flickering issue comes, rebooting I... Read More

27" 2.66 Quad i5 1TB flickering display + noisy hard drive
27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB Sometimes flickering appearing: so this means that some days iMac works perfectly while others show the flickering. This is casual and not related to temperature ( show problems since started ) or to airport ( i never use it, iMac is linked via LAN )
27" 2.8 Quad i7 1TB Flickering display and bottom 2 inch portion of screen appearing on top. Both resolved short term by putting computer to sleep. Apple replaced video card on 12/10. Flicker seems to be resolved, but bottom on top issue reoccurred on 12/11.
